The Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman represented Brunei Darussalam during the 2020 Education World Forum in the United Kingdom (UK) from 19-22 January alongside delegations from 120 countries.
The four-day global summit for education ministers elucidated on its theme 'one generation: what does it take to transform education' through a series of nine plenary sessions and six parallel ministerial exchanges delivered by their respective panels of education ministers and prominent representatives from various fields of education. These sessions and exchanges were each complemented with open dialogues between the panel speakers and their esteemed audience, allowing for productive outcomes in addressing a wide range of issues and challenges through real-world and experience-based solutions.

As part of the forum's concluding programme, the Minister toured the 2020 British Educational Training and Technology Show (BETT) and had separate talks with several educational technology providers to gain a more nuanced understanding of emerging innovations in learning technologies, teaching technologies, and learning management solutions. The BETT Show amassed together more than 700 leading technology providers and over 100 technology startups coming from all over the world showcasing among others, innovations in artificial intelligences, digital tools and platforms, STEAM education, extended reality, cloud computing and digital learning spaces.
Following the forum, the Minister called on Rt. Hon. Nick Gibb, Minister for School Standards for the UK and deliberated among other matters relevant to education transformation the current challenges faced by education systems in today's landscape. The Minister and the delegation then visited the Scottish Government Learning Directorate in Edinburgh to get a better understanding of the Scottish National Standardised Assessment (SNSA), followed by a short visit to a nearby primary school at West Pilton Crescent, Edinburgh to observe the implementation of the SNSA.

Accompanying the Minister to the Education World Forum and consequent meetings was Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education Awang Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman.
