MSSBD Contingent bagged a silver in Pencak Silat

Brunei Darussalam Sport Schools Council (MSSBD) contingent bagged a silver medal in the Pencak Silat event at the 11th ASEAN School Games (ASG) 2019 in Semarang, Indonesia.

The silver medal was awarded to MSSBD Pencak Silat contingent, Mohd Mahadir@Danish Naqiuddin bin Mahmud in Seni Tunggal Putra category. Mohd Mahadir accumulated 447 points in the category final round which took place at Grand Ballroom, Patra Jasa Hotel Semarang, Indonesia. Meanwhile, the gold and bronze medals were won by Indonesia and Philippines respectively.

Also attending to present the medal was Yang Mulia Mohamed Jais bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Acting Director of Co-curriculum Education in his capacity as the chef De Mission of the Brunei Darussalam Sports Schools Council Contingent.

At this year 11th ASG event, MSSBD contingent has shown improvement since the 8th ASG in Thailand 2016. The improvement results from the dicipline and effort made by MS SBD which includes several aspects such as comprehensive evaluation and selection of athletes as well as in the training programme that has been run previously.

In addition, three male swimmers from the MSSBD contingent broke their personal bests. Mohd Danish Shah in the 50m breaststroke with a revised time of 34.47s, Alvin Bong Jia Lok in the 50m breaststroke with a time of 35.08s and Aaron Ang in the 400m freestyle with a time of 4:23:16s. While MSSBD female swimmer Ashley Chai advanced to the final round of the 200m backstroke.

In the 800m freestyle, Aaron broke national record after recording a time of 9:19:70s, eclipsing the previous mark of 9:29:82s previously held by Nathaniel Nikles on April 20, 2014.

Two athletes from MSSBD contingent in 100m, 200m and 800m events progressed to the final round.

The 11th ASG will concludes tomorrow in Semarang Indonesia.

Kontinjen Majlis Sukan Sekolah-Sekolah Negara Brunei Darussalam (MSSBD) telah berjaya mengutip satu pingat perak melalui acara Pencak Silat di Kejohanan Sukan Sekolah-Sekolah ASEAN Ke-11 Tahun 2019, Semarang, Indonesia.

Satu pingat perak dihasilkan melalui pesilat kontinjen MSSBD, Awang Mohd Mahadir @ Danish Naqiuddin bin Mahmud bagi kategori seni tunggal putra dengan jumlah kutipan 447 mata pada peringkat akhir kejohanan tersebut yang diadakan di Grand Ballroom, Patra Jasa Hotel Semarang, Indonesia. Manakala, pingat Emas dan pingat gangsa masing-masing dimenangi oleh negara Indonesia dan Philippines.

Turut hadir dan seterusnya menyempurnakan penyampaian pingat tersebut ialah Yang Mulia, Awang Mohamed Jais bin Haji Abd RahmanPemangku Pengarah Pendidikan Kokurikulum selaku Chef De Mission bagi Kontinjen Majlis Sukan Sekolah-Sekolah Negara Brunei Darussalam (MSSBD).

Sepanjang berada di kejohanan tersebut, kontinjen MSSBD telah menunjukkan peningkatan berbanding dari tahun-tahun sebelumnya sejak tahun 2016. Peningkatan ini merupakan hasil usaha keras dan disiplin termasuk aspek penilaian dan pemilihan atlet yang lebih komprehensif serta program latihan pusat yang telah dijalankan sebelumnya.

Tiga perenang lelaki bagi kontinjen MSSBD telah berjaya memecahkan rekod peribadi iaitu Awang Mohd Danish Shah bagi acara 50 Meter Kuak Dada dengan catatan masa 34.47 saat,  Awang Alvin Bong Jia Lok bagi acara 50 Meter Kuak Dada dengan catatan masa 35.08 saat dan Awang Aaron Ang bagi acara 400 Meter Gaya Bebas dengan catatan masa 4:23.16 saat.

Perenang perempuan bagi kontinjen MSSBD, Dayang Ashely Chai telah berjaya masuk ke peringkat akhir bagi acara 200 Meter Kuak Lentang.

Dalam acara renang 800 meter gaya bebas, perenang lelaki dari pasukan MSSBD iaitu Awang Aaron Ang dengan catatan 9:19.70 saat telah berjaya memecahkan rekod kebangsaan yang terdahulu dipegang oleh Nathaniel Nikles yang mencatat 9:29.82 pada 20 April 2014.

Dua orang atlet dari pasukan MSSBD dalam acara olahraga 100 meter200 meter dan 800 meter berjaya mara ke peringkat akhir.

Kejohanan Sukan Sekolah-Sekolah ASEAN Ke-11 Tahun 2019 diadakan selama 9 hari bermula 17 hingga 25 Julai 2019 di Semarang, Indonesia. Sepuluh (10) buah negara ASEAN menyertai tersebut iaitu Negara Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand dan Vietnam
