Brunei Darussalam Nominated as Finalist for Child Youth Finance International Global Inclusion Awards 2018 & Global Money Week Award 2018

Brunei Darussalam received two recognitions as finalist for two awards during the 7th annual Global Inclusion Awards Ceremony. The event was co- organized by Child & Youth Finance International (CYFI), the Argentina’s G20 Presidency and The Global partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI) on 3 July 2018 at the Ritz-Carlton in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Brunei was nominated for top 3 finalist against Bhutan and Indonesia.

The Global Inclusion Awards 2018 recognized and honored those who achieved greatness in furthering the Economic Citizenship of children and youth at the national, regional and international level. All finalist demonstrated robust innovation in financial, social and livelihoods education, financial inclusion, and entrepreneurial support for children and youth. The award selected five regional winners for this award. The Global Inclusion Awards was judged by 8 Juries who have years of experience as practitioners in the areas of finance, child welfare and/or non-profit development.

Brunei Darussalam was praised for its approach in covering many different aspects of financial inclusion, such as creating a pilot program focused on entrepreneurs. The CYFI Country Award 2018 acknowledged Brunei Darussalam accomplishments of government authorities, Ministry of Education in building alliances among key national stakeholders initiating child and youth friendly financial regulation and expanding the reach of quality Economic Citizenship Education through formal and non-formal education channels.

On the same event, Brunei Darussalam was also nominated as finalists for Global Money week Award 2018. The award acknowledges efforts and accomplishments of countries in implementing “Global Money Week 2018” held between 12 - 18 March 2018 at the national level. The lead organisation for this event was Curriculum Development Department, Ministry of Education.

Brunei Darussalam has been commended for its playful approach. Many activities were organized, including ones which established international contact (Singapore) between students and events strengthening the relation between the people and the government.

The overall winner for Global Money Week Award 2018 was given to The Netherlands with national efforts lead by the Money Wise Platform, Ministry of Finance, Dutch Central Bank (DNB), Dutch Bankers Association and Dutch Association of Insurers. The Global Inclusion Awards 2018 for Asia-Pacific region was won by The Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan.

Brunei Darussalam was represented by Awang Mohamad Izzul Asyraf bin Kamis, Third Secretary, Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to receive the two certificates during the said event.

Negara Brunei Darussalam dicalonkan sebagai Finalis bagi Child Youth Finance International Global Inclusion Awards dan Global Money Week Award 2018

Negara Brunei Darussalam telahpun terpilih tahun ini sebagai negara Asia-Pasifik 3 teratas (top 3 finalist) bagi dua anugerah iaitu Child Youth Finance International Global Inclusion Award, Kategori Asia Pasifik dan Global Money Week Award 2018. Majlis tersebut diraikan pada 3 Julai 2018 di Ritz-Carlton di Riyadh, Arab Saudi, anjuran bersama Child & Youth Finance International (CYFI), Argentina’s G20 Presidency dan Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI). Tiga finalis negara Asia-Pasifik yang bertanding adalah Negara Brunei Darussalam, Bhutan dan Indonesia.

Global Inclusion Award 2018 adalah merupakan satu anugerah pengiktirafan dan penghormatan kepada negara yang menunjukkan inovasi dalam pendidikan kewangan dan keusahawanan dan penganugerahan tersebut dihakimkan oleh lapan juri antarabangsa.

Para juri mengulas pencapaian Negara Brunei Darussalam dipuji kerana pendekatannya meliputi pelbagai aspek dalam pendidikan kewangan, seperti mewujudkan program kewangan yang bersesuaian dalam program-program keusahawanan. Anugerah tersebut mengakui kejayaan Brunei Darussalam khususnya Jabatan Perkembangan Kurikulum, Kementerian Pendidikan dalam menjalin hubungan dan kerjasama yang erat bersama Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam, Tabung Amanah Pekerja (TAP), Kementerian Kewangan, Persatuan Perancang Kewangan Brunei Darussalam dan Institusi-institusi Kewangan, untuk memperluas jangkauan pendidikan kewangan yang berkualiti melalui saluran pendidikan formal dan tidak formal.

Negara Brunei Darussalam juga terpilih sebagai negara tiga teratas bagi Anugerah Minggu Wang Global (GMW) 2018. Ianya merupakan sambutan mengenai kesedaran kewangan yang diraikan secara global pada bulan Mac setiap tahun. Minggu Wang Global disambut dengan mengadakan beberapa aktiviti tempatan dan serantau bertujuan untuk menggalakkan kanak-kanak dan belia agar belajar mengenai kepentingan wang, berjimat cermat, mewujudkan mata pencarian, mendapat pekerjaan dan menjadi seorang usahawan.

Tahun 2018 adalah merupakan penyertaan kali ke-enam Jabatan Perkembangan Kurikulum, Kementerian Pendidikan, Negara Brunei Darussalam sejak penyertaan pertamanya pada tahun 2013 dalam meraikan sambutan Minggu Wang Global. Pertandingan yang julung-julung kali diadakan ini membawa tema “Money Matters Matter” yang antara lain bertujuan bagi memupuk kefahaman dan kesedaran tentang kepentingan sumber kewangan, pengurusan kewangan, keusahawanan dan kesan kewangan kepada kehidupan seharian.

Pemenang bagi Anugerah Minggu Wang Global 2018 adalah Belanda dengan usahasama The Money Wise Platform, Kementerian Kewangan Belanda, Dutch Central Bank (DNB), Persatuan Bank Belanda dan Persatuan Insurans Belanda. Pemenang Anugerah Child Youth Finance International (CYFI) Inklusi Global 2018 bagi rantau Asia Pasifik disandang oleh Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan.

Negara Brunei Darussalam telah diwakili oleh Awang Mohamad Izzul Asyraf bin Kamis, Setiausaha Ketiga, Kedutaan Besar Brunei Darussalam di Riyadh, Arab Saudi bagi menerima dua sijil finalis pada majlis makan malam anugerah yang diadakan di Ritz-Carlton di Riyadh, Arab Saudi.
